Needs Assessment Lessons Learned: December 2020

As part of the needs assessment conducted within my high school as the organization for GWU EDUC 6422 course, we reflect upon a few important lessons learned while having taken the journey on collecting data, determining needs, and understanding the nature of the high school better. These takeaways are ones that bring insight into not only the method and reasoning behind my needs assessment, but also how to effectively work through information and assess gaps within an organization to the best of one’s ability.

The lessons learned are as follows:

1. Determine and take the heart the needs versus solutions.

2. Be patient with interpreting and collecting the data.

3. Ensure that the data tracks over a certain period of time to allow for comparisons if possible.

4. Communicate and build relationships with your client for the best possible assessment.
