A qualitative study on perpetrator explanations for sexual abuse of young children conducted in South African prisons and communities. Perpetrators, carers and professionals were interviewed mainly in Limpopo with more perpetrators in Gauteng and North West. a total of 46 interviews were conducted including 27 perpetrators who sexually abused children under 6 years.
